Seeking a Freelancer: Health, Safety & Environmental Specialist
Role and Responsibilities:
1. The main purpose of this position is to be responsible for maintaining, developing, leading and supporting a strong environmental, health and safety culture within the project.
2. Establish and ensure the implementation of project HSE action plans.
3. Leads all the HSE aspects of the projects.
Develop and implement a safety program for each site to capture specific risk.
4. Develop a contractor training program specific for site, in compliance with the Owners’ HSE policies.
5. Develop and propose strategies improving HSE management for the Project.
6. Set up an effective Accident Prevention Plan and a contingency plan.
7. Lead regular inspections and audits on construction site.
8. Establish HSE Reporting for the Project.
9. Responsible for LOTO.
10. Provide for HSE Training to the Sponsors team members.
11. Demonstrate HSE & Security Regulatory Compliance.
Qualification and or Experience:
1. Advanced Occupational Health and Safety and environmental legislation knowledge
2. Previous experience in Construction and Operations.
3. Occupational Health and Safety Qualification or a related field
3. Minimum 2 years’ experience in Risk Management
4. SAMTRAC Qualification
4. NEBOSCH Qualification
5. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
6. Experience in implementation, maintaining and auditing of the OSHA45001 and ISO14001 Management System.
7. Familiarity of Industry Standards and relevant industry HSE regulations and requirements.
8. Familiarity with behavioural based safety systems, risk analysis / job safe analysis methods, emergency response and crisis management procedures.
9. Excellent skills in problem solving, team building, ingenuity and initiative are required to coordinate problem resolution and to execute schedule requirements within a team environment.
10. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Advantage:
1. SACPCMP Registration
2. Must be a registered Safety Officer 2 - 5 years relevant experience within the construction arena
3. Risk Assessor competency
4. Fall Protection Plan Developer
5. Incident Investigator
6. Knowledge of the recent H&S legislation
